The standard jewelry that we use 316LVM Implant Grade Surgical Stainless Steel. This grade of metal is perfectly safe to use if you do not have a Nickel sensitivity. However, if you do have a Nickel sensitivity, we do stock a lot of Implant Grade Titanium 6Al-4V-Eli ASTM F-136 and Nickel-Free 14K and 18K Gold from Neometal, Anatometal, and BVLA and can place a custom order if we don’t have the appropriate piece on hand.

  • Can I bring my own jewelry?

You can bring in jewelry if you’d like, but it is up to the piercer’s discretion whether or not it is safe for initial piercing. The cost of jewelry is not included in the price you are quoted for the piercing so you do not need to buy jewelry separately. We will remove the jewelry cost if we accept what you bring in.

  • Do piercing shops use sterile equipment?

       - Yes, reputable piercing shops should always use sterile equipment. This includes needles, jewelry, gloves, and other tools. Sterilization is crucial to minimize the risk of infection and ensure a safe piercing experience.

  • How old do I have to be to get a piercing?

       - The age requirement for piercings can vary depending on the location and type of piercing. In many places, the legal age to get a piercing without parental consent is typically 18 years old. However, some piercings may have a higher age requirement due to potential risks. Minors usually require parental consent and may have additional restrictions.

  • Does getting a piercing hurt?

       - Pain tolerance varies from person to person, and the level of discomfort can depend on the type of piercing. Most piercings involve some level of pain, but it is usually brief and tolerable. Piercers are trained to minimize discomfort and provide aftercare instructions to promote healing and reduce pain.

  • How long does it take for a piercing to heal?

       - Healing times can vary depending on the type of piercing and individual factors. On average, it can take several weeks to several months for a piercing to fully heal. Earlobe piercings usually take around 6-8 weeks, while more complex piercings like cartilage or body piercings can take several months or longer.

  • What aftercare should I follow for my piercing?

    - Proper aftercare is crucial for the healing process. Your piercer will provide you with specific instructions, but general aftercare practices include cleaning the piercing with saline solution  avoiding touching the piercing with dirty hands, avoiding swimming or submerging the piercing in water, and avoiding changing the jewelry too soon.

Remember, it's important to consult with a professional piercer for accurate information and guidance specific to your piercing.

  • Why can’t I get my navel pierced?

Why can’t I get my navel pierced?

Technically, anyone can have the skin around their navel pierced, however, anatomically, not everyone is set up to heal a navel piercing.

In order for a navel to heal properly it must have a good lip of skin above the navel (or in some cases, below) with space both behind and below the lip for the jewelry to sit without pressure. The lip of skin should be a flap (like an earlobe), with an obvious front and back to it and a defined edge between the two. Without a well-defined “lip” above the navel there is an increased chance for problems healing—including rejection. Likewise, attempting to pierce navels that do have a flap but do not have enough space behind them to allow jewelry to sit comfortably will generally result in a difficult and problematic healing process.

This is why when clients come to the studio requesting a piercing, we will have a piercer take a look at their navel and discuss the viability of the piercing first. If you come to us requesting a navel piercing and we think your navel does not have a good chance of healing properly, we will often decline to pierce it. We do not want to take your money and condemn you to a year or so of discomfort and hassle when we know that, in the end, you probably won’t get what you want. If your navel is not a pierceable shape, that doesn’t mean you’re too fat, too thin, or deformed; it’s simply that your navel is not shaped in such a way that we think you can heal the piercing.
